Screening of Global Fund for Women's Rising Power

IWF members are invited to a screening of “Rising Power” by Global Fund for Women and a Q&A with IWF NorCal member and Global Fund for Women President and CEO, Latanya Mapp Frett.
“Rising Power” is part of a series of films "Fundamental" about grassroots movements and community leaders who are standing up for our fundamental human rights. The “Rising Power” episode, which is approximately 15 minutes in length, focuses on a community organizing effort in Madison, Wisconsin, led by people of color, tackling education reform, police brutality, land access and ownership, women’s safety and security, and mental health, and ultimately building a roadmap toward shared liberation. Latanya Mapp Frett is President and CEO of Global Fund for Women, which works to strengthen gender justice movements to shift power, privilege, and perception and create meaningful change that will last beyond our lifetimes. Previously, Latanya was the Executive Director of Planned Parenthood Global, the international arm of Planned Parenthood Federation of America. Latanya worked for eight years as a human rights officer for the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and for 10 years with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
