Tell Me Your Story
In Conversation With 3 IWF NorCal Long Time Members

Thursday, October 23
4:00 pm - 5:00 pm (Pacific)

Ever wonder what IWF Northern California was like back in the early days…back when it was called Women’s Forum West? Interested to learn more about some of our earliest members, their careers, and the ‘firsts’ that they accomplished? Curious about the role that IWF played in the lives of our long time members and what motivates them to stay involved so many years later?

Join us as IWF NorCal member Denise Brosseau brings together Carol Mayer Marshall, Barbara Creed, and Rachel Mueller, three of our earliest forum members, to explore their myriad accomplishments, their fascinating journeys, and the many roles they have played to make IWF what it is today.

Date: Thursday, October 23

Time: 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm (Pacific)

Location: Webinar via Zoom

Cost: Free, but registration is required to participate (webinar link and details will be included in the registration confirmation e-mail.)

Speaker bios:

Denise Brosseau is a leadership coach, professional speaker, and thought leadership consultant. She is the author of the best-seller Ready to Be a Thought Leader? and the founder and CEO of the Thought Leadership Lab. Previously, Denise was the Founding CEO of the Forum for Women Entrepreneurs (now merged with Upward) and the co-founder of Springboard, the women's start-up launchpad that has led to over $10 billion in funding for women entrepreneurs.

Barbara B. Creed is a founding member and past president of IWF NorCal. Barbara has been giving programs on the U.S. Supreme Court for over ten years. Before her retirement Barbara practiced law in San Francisco for over 40 years, specializing in employee benefits. In 2018 she completed a term as chair of the board of trustees of the Church Pension Fund, a $12 billion diversified financial services organization providing pensions, health coverage and other benefits to clergy and lay employees of the Episcopal Church in the United States, certain countries in Central and South America, the Caribbean and Liberia.

Carol Mayer Marshall founded WIRE for Women, where its purpose was to recruit and elect women to local non partisan offices. Previously she worked on Capitol Hill as a Legislative Assistant to Congressmen and Senators. She then accepted a Presidential appointment from President Nixon as Director of VISTA and was the 3rd highest woman in that Administration. After running for CA State Senate, she accepted a second Presidential appointment with Senate Confirmation to head the SF Mint.

Rachel Mueller has had a varied career. At the time she joined IWF, she was running The Fields Investment Group, a Registered Investment Advisory firm. After marrying and moving out of state, she started working with non-profit groups including theater groups, joining their boards and directing and choreographing musicals for local communities. This led to taking on event planning for very large groups, including the U.S. Special Olympics and the Sundance Film Festival. Later, she bought and ran a retail high-end stationery company, which she sold in 2016. Since then, she has concentrated on non-profits in the food and wine industry and today is the President of Les Dames d’Escoffier Monterey Chapter. She is also a Disciple of Escoffier and a member of the Advisory Board for The American Institute of Wine and Food. She also works with a non-profit I-HELP which feeds and houses homeless in Monterey County. She cooks for this program monthly and is active advocating to end homelessness.
